Mastic Woman Charged In Middle Island Home Burglary

A woman has been taken into police custody after she and a man were caught on camera breaking into and burglarizing a Middle Island home by a doorbell surveillance cam.

Cheryl Liggon, 36, of Mastic, was arrested on Monday, June 17 by Suffolk County Police investigators after allegedly burglarizing and ransacking a West Bartlett Road on Wednesday, June 12.

Liggon was held overnight and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Slip on Tuesday, June 18. The second suspect was last seen wearing a dark hat, glasses, a bright orange shirt, and khaki cargo shorts. Police said the investigation into the burglary is ongoing.

According to police, Liggon entered the West Bartlett Road home as a main waited outside at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18. The woman stole clothes, cash, and jewelry until a resident arrived home and saw the two, who fled with the stolen items. No injuries were reported, and the incident was caught on camera.
